I try not to have favorites on the farm, but truly, pigs are at the top of the list. If it was up to me I'd probably have a house pig too. 2016 was our first year raising and selling pastured pork. We weren't sure what to expect, but it ended up being a blast! Pigs are highly intelligent creatures and they LOVE to eat. We do not raise a specific breed, just preferably one known to do well on pasture. Our pigs are never confined indoors, in stalls, or in dirt pens. They are on pasture exclusively. Contrary to popular belief, pigs are not filthy animals. Pigs pick an area to use as a "bathroom", and wallow in mud as they lack the ability to sweat. We strive to raise pigs with no vaccines, antibiotics, or hormones. They are fed a non-GMO feed ration daily, along with surplus raw milk, eggs, and produce.
